Exploring plant fibres, with a focus on Lime and Stinging Nettles. Learn how to prepare and ply fibres into cord, talk about processes and techniques. Make simple but sturdy cords with nettles from the adjacent Glebe Meadow, process them using the scraping method.
Also looking at Elm, Willow and deer tendons (depending on seasonal availability).
All materials and refreshments included. Do let me know if you have any dietary requirements.
This workshop will involve handling nettles so please bring gloves and wear long sleeves as you feel appropriate. Please also bring a wooden chopping board, rolling pin, secateurs and a shopping bag for gathering if you have them.
